After 6 years of happily slinging pixels for other people, we are proud to announce the launch of our very own website. As designers and coders, we are perfectionists by trade. Over the years we created countless mockups and even a couple fully functioning local sites. But it was never quite right. So we finally sectioned out some hard time and cornered our creativity. And after weeks of dissecting every word and bisecting every pixel, we hope we have created a site that represents who we are, showcases what we do best and is worth coming back to. Now we can empty our heads of unpublished blog posts and all those subtle graphics.
Looking back, we probably should have done some things differently, treated it more like a project and less like our baby, a creature we could erase and redraw the edges of, over and over. However through documenting our process and solidifying our services, we put our best practices in place. The stuff we have been spouting for years, but never formally published. It is now a living document, our manifesto. Keep in mind this is a starting point, some of it is still a little rough (if you happen to see anything weird looking, please let us know we would love the feedback). We will constantly be improving the site, adding more pages and updating the blog.
On a technical note, we hand coded the site with valid XHTML, CSS and jQuery. It's powered by ExpressionEngine. We are utilizing Leevi Graham's incredibly useful Better Meta extension and Brandon Kelly's excellent relationship extension (older version), Playa. The site looks best in basically everything except IE6. We have decided not to support IE6 on any of our new sites, unless it's specifically requested. We are using our own site to try out some CSS3 and other forward thinking web ideas. Each blog post has its own CSS stylesheet controlling its layout. We will use these posts as experiments, places to expand our knowledge of web design.
A big thanks to Adrian Kien for giving our content the flavor it needed!
Now we wouldn't be decent perfectionists if we didn't have a running list of things we already want to change. (Version 3.0 features are already sketched out in our notebooks.) But we are stuffing our anxieties with antacid and will now take a moment to attend the dance party now in progress at our office. We are launched!
